Albert II, Prince of Monaco, hails Sochi Games' opening ceremony

Albert II, Prince of Monaco, says that he "loved" the opening ceremony of the Sochi Winter Games on Friday.

Albert II, Prince of Monaco, has described the opening ceremony of the Sochi Olympics as "beautiful".

The 2014 Winter Games officially got underway on Friday at the Fisht Olympic Stadium.

"I think it was a beautiful ceremony," he told Sport-Express. "We've witnessed a beautiful demonstration of Russian culture and history.

"And at the same time, we have been shown the modern Russia. It was very meaningful message to the world.

"The technical side of the ceremony was just incredible. And, of course, it was very emotional. I loved it."

The Sochi Games are said to be the most expensive Olympics, costing £30bn.
