Hundreds of Liverpool fans take to social media to complain about their treatment by police and matchday staff in Seville last night.

Hundreds of Liverpool fans have taken to social media to complain about their treatment by police and matchday staff in Seville last night following the Reds' dramatic 3-3 draw with Sevilla in the Champions League.

According to a report in the Liverpool Echo, fan Anna Burgess was punched in the back by police after they spotted her carrying a red flag with the word 'defiance' on it.

Phil Rowan, committee member of the Spirit of Shankly supporter group, saw the alleged incident and claims that Burgess and friend Sam Armstrong were then denied entry to the game, before he was 'thrown over a fence'.

"Anna and Sam were not allowed into the ground by police because apparently the flag they were carrying was too political," he told the newspaper. "They threw the flag at her and punched her. I was stood at the turnstile and saw it all happen so they told me to go into the ground and when I said I was waiting on Anna and Sam they threw me over a fence.

"We sent a picture of the flag to LFC before the match to have it approved, as we always do. We have taken it to 31 grounds in Europe and never had a problem before. I have never been treated so disgracefully at a match in my life."

Other fans reported 'hostile behaviour' and being denied entry to the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan despite having valid tickets.
