Brazilian club Gremio bans fan group for racist chants

Brazilian club Gremio bans a fan group from attending its matches after an opposition goalkeeper was subjected to monkey chants.

Brazilian club Gremio have announced that they have banned a fans group from their stadium for making racist chants towards an opposition goalkeeper.

Santos keeper Aranha was subjected to monkey chants at the club's Arena Gremio in a Brazilian Cup match last week.

As a result, the club have banned the group 'Geral do Gremio' from attending its games as well as using the team's logos.

Footage of five fans chanting at Aranha has already been handed to police as part of the investigation into the chants.
