Wolverhampton Wanderers reportedly rule out a move for Spain striker - and Jorge Mendes client - Alvaro Negredo due to his wage demands.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have reportedly ruled out a move for Spain striker Alvaro Negredo due to his wage demands.

The 31-year-old spent last season on loan at Middlesbrough, scoring nine goals and registering four assists in 36 Premier League appearances.

A number of media sources pointed out on Tuesday that Negredo was 7/1 on Sky Bet to link up with Nuno Espirito Santo's side this summer, the second-lowest odds behind Besiktas at 11/4.

However, Inside Futbol claims that Wolves have decided not to pursue the forward - who is one of Jorge Mendes's clients - due to his salary demands of £100,000 per week.

Negredo has previously been on the books of Real Madrid, Sevilla and Manchester City.
