West Ham United co-owner David Sullivan was hit by a coin during the fan protests at the London Stadium on Saturday, according to club legend Sir Trevor Brooking.

West Ham United legend Sir Trevor Brooking has claimed that club co-owner David Sullivan was hit by a coin during the fan protests at the London Stadium on Saturday.

The Hammers have launched an inquiry after a number of fans invaded the pitch in the 3-0 home loss to Burnley, with others congregating beneath the directors' box to protest against the club's board.

Sullivan and co-owner David Gold were advised to leave the match early for their own safety, and former West Ham striker Brooking is positive that Sullivan was hit by a projectile during the protests.

"I think a coin did hit David Sullivan, his glasses," Brooking told BBC Sport on Sunday.

"I didn't see it myself but I did have that confirmed, which was part of the reason why the people in the directors' box had to go inside to save any more problems like that."

West Ham are three points and two places above the Premier League relegation zone after their defeat to the Clarets.
