Midfielder is no longer a regular but still vitally important.

David Moyes wants West Ham to win the FA Cup for long-serving captain Mark Noble.

Midfielder Noble, who will turn 34 the week before the final, is no longer a regular starter under Moyes but will be back in the team to face Doncaster in the fourth round.

Noble has made 513 West Ham appearances over 17 years in east London and his contract expires at the end of the season.

Yet Moyes insists Noble still has an important role to play and admits lifting the club's first trophy since 1980 would be a fitting reward for his service in claret and blue.

"I think it would be something that a lot of people at West Ham would think was a great thing," said the Hammers boss.

"I think for Mark Noble it would be exceptional because he's had a very long career at West Ham, albeit maybe in some difficult times and through some difficult periods.

"Mark played against Stockport in the third round, on what was as bad a night as you can get with the conditions, and his attitude to the game was as if it was his first, and it could have been anywhere. It could have been at Wembley.

"He played the game with the attitude of a real, true professional and was arguably our best player.

"Some of Mark Noble's performances have been excellent so he's right in my thoughts, right from the start.

"As far as I'm concerned he's here for the long-term and I need him on the pitch and off the pitch."

Moyes will name a strong side against League One Rovers with his only senior striker Michail Antonio leading the line again as West Ham bid to end their 41-year trophy drought.

"I want to win the FA Cup if I can, I really do," he added. "I want to be strong in the cup competitions but I also have to be mindful of the amount of games that we are going to be playing.

"We have been good with injuries and I want to keep it that way.

"Obviously, we have had a couple of injuries like everybody else but we have a squad of players and I will use the squad, but my intention is to be as strong as I feel I can be for this game."
