West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Pulis has reiterated his desire to bring in five new players before Wednesday's transfer deadline.

The Baggies have been quiet so far this summer, with Matty Phillips the only player to arrive on a permanent basis despite Pulis repeatedly admitting the need for reinforcements.

However, Pulis hinted at a busy final few days in the window having seen his side booed off following a goalless draw with newly-promoted Middlesbrough at The Hawthorns this afternoon.

"I thought we were good for the first 25 minutes and the game drifted away for us. We are trying our socks off to get players who in can make the difference," he told Sky Sports News.

"This group of lads have worked really hard since I've been here but we need to bring a few people in to give us a lift. I'd rather talk to the other managers and then I'll talk about it with you guys.

"I've said before we need five players to come in for the group because there's players here we need to move on who aren't going to play. There's 14 or 15 players who were here two years ago when we were struggling near the bottom who are fantastic and work so hard. But we need to freshen up."

Pulis was also non-committal over the future of Saido Berahino, who was dropped to the bench for this afternoon's match amid ongoing speculation that he will leave the club.

When asked whether the striker would remain at The Hawthorns, Pulis added: "We'll see in the next 48 hours."

The Baggies have been linked with loan moves for the likes of Nacer Chadli, Jay Rodriguez and Calum Chambers in recent days.
