Hip surgery is likely to rule Valencia and Belgium attacker Zakaria Bakkali out of this summer's European Championships.

Belgium are likely to be without Zakaria Bakkali for this summer's European Championships in France.

Valencia confirmed earlier today that the winger had undergone surgery on a hip injury, which could keep him sidelined for four months.

"The player, accompanied in Belgium by the chief of the medical staff, Dr Albors, was operated on on Monday," read a statement on the club's official website.

"After the procedure, which was completed normally, the player will begin a period of recovery estimated to be three to four months."

The Championships are due to get underway on June 10.
