Sunderland goalkeeper Vito Mannone has signed a new two-year contract at the Stadium of Light.

The 28-year-old joined the Black Cats from Arsenal in 2013 and has since gone on to make 69 appearances for the Wearside club.

Mannone played 19 times in the Premier League last season, keeping four clean sheets as Sam Allardyce's team successfully preserved their top-flight status.

The Italian is the third senior player to sign a new Sunderland deal in the close season after full-back Patrick van Aanholt and striker Jermain Defoe also committed their futures to the club.
