Valencia head coach Jose Bordalas reveals that Tottenham Hotspur loanee Bryan Gil 'would be welcome' to extend his stay with the club beyond this season.

Valencia head coach Jose Bordalas has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur loanee Bryan Gil 'would be welcome' to extend his stay with the club beyond this season.

After a frustrating start to life in North London, the 21-year-old moved back to his homeland in January, joining Los Che on loan until the end of the season.

Gil has since become a first-team regular and a fans favourite at Valencia, with the Mestalla faithful chanting that they want the midfielder to stay beyond the summer during the 3-1 win over Granada last weekend.

While Valencia have the option to buy Getafe loanee Hugo Duro in the summer, the same clause was not inserted in Gil's temporary deal from Spurs, but Bordalas is open to the possibility of recruiting both players permanently.

"They (Gil and Hugo Duro) are two players who have arrived and are giving us a lot," Bordalas told reporters, via El Mercantil Valenciano.

"Right now, we are focused on the current season, and we don't think beyond the day to day.

"We know the difficulty, and we know that it will be more difficult with Bryan because he doesn't have an option to buy. With Hugo, there is. Undoubtedly they would be welcome to continue."

Gil joined Tottenham from Sevilla last summer for a fee in the region of £25m, with Erik Lamela moving in the opposite direction as part of the deal.
