Tottenham Hotspur make a £47m offer for Atalanta BC defender Cristian Romero, according to a report.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly made a €55m (£47m) offer for Atalanta BC defender Cristian Romero.

The North London club appear to have identified the 23-year-old as their leading centre-back target during this summer's transfer window.

A recent report claimed that Spurs were preparing to step up their pursuit of the Argentina international, who is also believed to be admired by Barcelona.

According to Calciomercato, Nuno Espirito Santo's side have now made a €55m (£47m) bid for the defender, but Atalanta are making it a 'difficult negotiation' for the English club.

The report claims that Tottenham are unlikely to raise the offer currently on the table, and negotiations with the defender's Italian side will be 'complex'.

Romero, who represented Argentina at this summer's Copa America, scored three times and registered five assists in 42 appearances at club level during the 2020-21 campaign.
