Tottenham Hotspur are allegedly ready to step up their interest in Genoa defender Radu Dragusin during the January transfer window.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly expected to move quickly in an effort to sign Genoa defender Radu Dragusin.

Up until the start of November, Spurs had impressed in the Premier League, putting together a 10-game unbeaten run that left them top of the standings.

However, the sending off of Cristian Romero and injury to Micky van de Ven against Chelsea exposed their lack of depth in the middle of the backline, an issue that has remained heading into 2024.

Although Spurs were recently able to put together a three-match winning streak, they conceded four goals in defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion earlier this week in the days after Romero had been ruled out until February through injury.

With Eric Dier available for transfer due to his contract expiring in the summer, head coach Ange Postecoglou had already been preparing to enter the market for a new centre-back.

Despite Van de Ven being due to return in January, Postecoglou and club officials will seemingly step up their bid to strengthen in an area of the pitch that could cost them a Premier League title bid.

According to The Telegraph, Spurs intend to push hard for the acquisition of Dragusin over the coming days.

Genoa only signed the Romania international during the summer, handing him a four-year contract, but he has suitably impressed to remain on the radar of numerous big clubs.

Dragusin has been an ever-present in a defence that has conceded just 23 goals from 18 matches in Serie A during 2023-24, the majority of his outings coming in a back three.

Postecoglou uses a back four, but the 21-year-old has also played there on five occasions this campaign, as well as being able to provide cover at right-back.

While the report suggests that Genoa are ready to offer Dragusin fresh terms, Spurs allegedly feel that they are one of the frontrunners to secure his services.

At one point, it was claimed that a release clause was present in the former Juventus' man's contract, but that has since been dismissed by Genoa.

Spurs have also been credited with an interest in Nice centre-back Jean-Clair Todibo, yet it appears that there will be no immediate bid made for the in-form Frenchman.
