Tottenham Hotspur intend to make a decision on Ange Postecoglou's future this week, according to a report.

Tottenham Hotspur are supposedly planning to make a final decision on the future of head coach Ange Postecoglou this week.

The Australian experienced the highest highs and the lowest lows in the 2024-25 season, where he managed to fulfil his second-season trophy prophecy in the Europa League final.

The Lilywhites' 1-0 success over Manchester United snapped their miserable 17-year sequence without a major honour since the 2008 EFL Cup and also punched their ticket to next season's Champions League league phase.

However, Tottenham's continental excellence came at the cost of domestic embarrassment, as the North London giants suffered their worst-ever Premier League finish, placing 17th in the table.

Postecoglou oversaw a shocking 22 defeats in the 2024-25 top-flight campaign, the most one side has ever suffered in a single Premier League season without being relegated to the Championship.

Chairman Daniel Levy is therefore in an unenviable position of having to decide the future of Postecoglou, whom he bestowed with a four-year contract upon his arrival from Celtic in 2023.

The Australian therefore still has two seasons left to run on his terms, and he would be in line for a hefty payout if Tottenham relieved him of his duties this summer.

According to The Telegraph, Spurs will either stick or twist with Postecoglou this week, and he remains at 'extreme risk' of the chop despite leading Tottenham to Europa League glory.

Internally, some within the club are apparently 'anticipating' another change in management this summer, meaning Postecoglou could leave Spurs with an indifferent record of 47 wins, 14 draws and 40 losses from 101 games in charge.

The 59-year-old has only collected 1.53 points per game with Spurs, his second-worst record with a team he has overseen at least 10 matches with after Australia Under-20s (1.08 ppg from 12 matches).

If Spurs do bite the bullet and move on from Postecoglou, they are expected to search close to home for a successor, having reportedly taken a liking to four different Premier League head coaches.

Brentford's Thomas Frank is said to be admired by Lilywhites chiefs, as is Fulham boss Marco Silva, although the latter has also been linked with Juventus and the Saudi Pro League.

Tottenham have also taken a liking to forward-thinking Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola, although the 42-year-old is expected to continue at the Vitality Stadium for the time being.

Finally, FA Cup-winning Crystal Palace coach Oliver Glasner has been mentioned as another potential candidate, but Eagles chairman Steve Parish does not expect the Austrian to depart Selhurst Park.

Gareth Southgate, Xavi, Edin Terzic and Thiago Motta are among the highly-rated head coaches who are currently without a club.
