Antonio Conte: 'Burnley game would have been impossible'

Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte claims that it would have been "impossible" for Sunday's postponed game with Burnley to go ahead.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte has affirmed that it would have been "impossible" for Sunday's game with Burnley to go ahead.

Ten minutes after the teams were announced, referee Peter Bankes decided that the conditions at Turf Moor were too poor for the match to go ahead following heavy snowfall.

The game was subsequently postponed to a later date, and Conte believes that the right call was made due to concerns over the players' safety in such weather.

Conte told Spurs social media: "I think in these conditions it's not football. I want to play football, I want to have fun, to play and give emotion.

"I think in this situation it is impossible and there is serious risk for the players to [get injured], and this is not good."

An announcement regarding an alternative date for the fixture to be played will be made in due course.
