Tottenham Hotspur team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Middlesbrough

Sports Mole rounds up Tottenham Hotspur's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Sunday's FA Cup third-round tie with Middlesbrough.

Tottenham Hotspur make the trip to Middlesbrough in the FA Cup third round this weekend looking to end a mixed Christmas and New Year period on a high.

Jose Mourinho has witnessed his team record just four points from as many matches, leaving them six points off the pace in the race for fourth position in the Premier League table.

While Mourinho will be considering major changes for the visit to the North-East, the Portuguese also has a number of injury issues to contend with ahead of playing at the Riverside Stadium.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Tottenham's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their first contest in 2020.

Hugo Lloris

Possible return date: Unknown

February has been pencilled in as the possible return month for Lloris, who has been sidelined since dislocating his elbow against Brighton & Hove Albion in October.

Ben Davies

Possible return date: Unknown

Davies has been absent since sustaining an ankle injury in Mourinho's first game in charge against West Ham United. The Welshman may not return until at least the end of January.

Type of injury: Muscular
Possible return date: January 18 (vs. Watford)

Rose sustained a muscular injury last week, resulting in his absence from the previous games. Mourinho has suggested that the left-back will spend another couple of weeks on the sidelines.

Having been withdrawn against Southampton with a hamstring injury, Kane is expected to be sidelined for several weeks. Regardless, the forward may have been rested for the trip to the North-East.

Eric Dier

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: January 5 (vs. Middlesbrough)

Dier did not feature in the squad against Southampton due to illness. However, the midfielder could be back in contention for the weekend with Mourinho expected to make several alterations.

Tanguy Ndombele

Type of injury: Hip
Possible return date: January 18 (vs. Watford)

Ndombele lasted just 25 minutes of the match on the south coast before being withdrawn with a hip problem. Mourinho is highly unlikely to take any risks on the Frenchman this weekend.

TOTTENHAM'S SUSPENSION LIST

With Son Heung-min having served his three-match ban in the Premier League, Spurs have no suspension issues for this match.
