Result: Sevilla close gap on top four with Deportivo La Coruna win

Sevilla close the gap on fourth-placed Valencia to four points with a 4-3 win over Deportivo La Coruna.

Sevilla closed the gap on the La Liga top four to four points with a 4-3 win over Deportivo La Coruna at La Riazor this afternoon.

Oriol Riera gave Depor the lead shortly before the half-hour mark when he converted Ivan Cavaleiro's low cross with a smart finish.

However, the home side's lead last just five minutes and it was Vitolo who levelled things up when he finished from close range after good work from Carlos Bacca in the build-up.

Vitolo gave the visitors the advantage seven minutes into the second period when he whipped Aleix Vidal's cross into the corner.

Depor perhaps should have restored parity just before the hour mark, but Lucas Perez's fierce effort was straight at Sevilla keeper Sergio Rico.

Kevin Gameiro gave Unai Emery's side some breathing space when he tucked home a penalty, after he had been brought down in the box by Pablo Insua.

Lucas almost reduced the deficit on 68 minutes, but his strike cannoned off the crossbar, although Riera struck five minutes later to make it 3-2.

However, Sevilla's two-goal cushion was restored when Sidnei put through his own net inside the final 10 minutes while attempting to deny Vitolo's hat-trick.

Perez was afforded the chance to set up a nervy finale for Sevilla when Depor were awarded a penalty in stoppage time, and he made no mistake from 12 yards, but Sevilla held on for the win.
