Lucas Vazquez will allegedly leave Real Madrid on a free transfer following the Club World Cup, which concludes on July 13.

Lucas Vazquez will reportedly leave Real Madrid on a free transfer following the Club World Cup.

The 33-year-old has again been an important squad member for Los Blancos this season, making 49 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals and registering seven assists in the process.

Vazquez has been even more vital for Real Madrid this term due to Dani Carvajal's severe knee injury, but the Spain international is now closing in on a return to fitness.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is also set to make the move to Bernabeu on a free transfer, so Vazquez would likely find it incredibly difficult to secure minutes with Los Blancos next term if he signed another contract.

The veteran's existing deal will expire this summer, and according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, he is set to be available for the Club World Cup, before leaving the Spanish giants on a free transfer.

Vazquez's final league appearance for Real Madrid is therefore set to come against Real Sociedad on Saturday afternoon.

Los Blancos will then begin their Club World Cup challenge against Al-Hilal on June 18, before also tackling Pachuca and Red Bull Salzburg in the group stage of the competition.

The tournament will run until July 13, with Real Madrid expected to be strong challengers for the trophy, and Vazquez's deal has been extended for a further two weeks to allow him to continue playing in the tournament.

Vazquez came through the youth system at Real Madrid before making his first-team debut in 2015, and he has represented the capital team on 399 occasions in all competitions, scoring 38 goals and registering 73 assists in the process.

The Spaniard has won four La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey and five Champions League crowns during his time with Real Madrid, and it is understood that he has no plans to hang up his boots.

Will Modric sign a new Real Madrid deal?

Luka Modric is also out of contract at the end of June, and a decision on the midfielder has not yet been communicated.

The Croatian has again been an important player this season, making 55 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals and registering nine assists in the process.

The 39-year-old has proven that he can still compete at the highest level, and it is understood that incoming head coach Xabi Alonso is in favour of keeping the central midfielder for another season.
