Result: Real Madrid prevail in seven-goal show

Cristiano Ronaldo's brace helps Real Madrid to see off a resilient Real Valldolid at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid have stretched their unbeaten run to 12 games in La Liga with a 4-2 win over Real Valladolid at the Santiago Bernabeu this evening.

Victory means that Los Blancos are now nine points ahead of their local rivals Atletico Madrid, although they have played a game more.

Jose Mourinho's men did not have it all their own way, however, as Oscar Gonzalez opened the scoring for the visitors after just eight minutes. He cut out Angel di Maria's pass before slotting underneath Diego Lopez to stun the home crowd.

It appeared as though the Argentine had redeemed himself in the 26th minute, but his deflected effort came off Antonio Rukavina and was awarded as an own goal.

Cristiano Ronaldo then put the hosts ahead in the 32nd minute, but that lead only lasted a few minutes as Javi Guerra tapped in Oscar's cross from close range.

The scores remained level until half time, but it was Madrid who restored their advantage when Jaime could not keep out Kaka's effort. The keeper went down as the second own goal scorer of the evening.

Ronaldo looked to have sealed the points with 20 minutes remaining when he rose high inside the box to bury a header past Jaime.

However, the scoring was not complete, as Lluis Sastre found the top corner in the 87th minute, leaving Lopez helpless, to set up an exciting finish.
