How Real Madrid could line up against Real Sociedad

Sports Mole looks at how Real Madrid could line up in Sunday's La Liga clash with Real Sociedad.

Real Madrid will continue their La Liga title challenge with a trip to Real Sociedad on Sunday night.

Zinedine Zidane's side have beaten Eibar and Valencia in their two matches since resuming their 2019-20 campaign amid the coronavirus pandemic.

As it stands, Los Blancos are just two points behind leaders Barcelona in the table, although the Spanish champions will have the chance to move five points clear when they face Sevilla on Friday night.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how the capital giants could line up when they take to the field against Sociedad, who are currently in the mix for fourth spot in the table.

POSS RM XI vs. SOC

Out: Luka Jovic (foot), Nacho (thigh), Isco (hamstring), Lucas Vazquez (calf)
Doubtful: Mariano Diaz (toe)

Madrid will again be without the services of Luka Jovic, Nacho, Isco and Lucas Vazquez through injury, while an ongoing toe problem is likely to keep Mariano Diaz on the sidelines once again.

Zidane still has plenty of options for change, although it would not be a surprise to see the bulk of the XI that started against Valencia again take to the field for this match.

Karim Benzema and Eden Hazard are likely to feature in the final third once again, while there could be a spot in the front three for Rodrygo Goes, who started against Eibar before dropping to the bench last time out.

Marco Asensio scored off the bench against Los Che on Thursday night, but it was the Spaniard's first appearance of the season after working his way back from a long-term knee injury, and it seems likely that the attacker will again be used as a substitute for this match.

Luka Modric could drop out to allow Federico Valverde to start alongside Casemiro and Toni Kroos in midfield, while Ferland Mendy is again expected to keep out Marcelo at left-back.

Vinicius Junior is another option in an attacking position, but Gareth Bale is unlikely to be in Zidane's thoughts when it comes to a starting role due to his struggles this season.
