Diego Llorente backs Zinedine Zidane to impress

Zinedine Zidane will prove to be a success in charge of Real Madrid, according to Real Madrid Castilla defender Diego Llorente.

Real Madrid Castilla defender Diego Llorente has claimed that Zinedine Zidane's appointment as head coach of Real Madrid will be a grand success.

Llorente, 22, has been with Real Madrid since 2002, but has only made two first-team appearances, spending the majority of his career with the Spanish giants in their Castilla side.

The Spaniard played under Zidane from 2014 until last month, and the full-back has backed the Frenchman to immediately improve the first team.

"There will be intensity right from the off. I had the chance to leave Castilla last year but when I heard that Zidane was going to be the coach, it was just one of the reasons why I decided to stay put," Llorente told FIFA.com.

"To learn from a legend was an amazing opportunity and it galvanised the squad right from the start. People say that he has no experience but this is Zidane we're talking about.

"He might not have much experience in coaching but it's very important for a player to have a coach who has been through as much as he has and who understands us well. I think you're going to see that now with Real Madrid."

Zidane's first game in charge of Real Madrid will be at home to Deportivo La Coruna on Saturday.
