New Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso could hand Trent Alexander-Arnold his debut in Wednesday's Club World Cup clash against Al-Hilal at Hard Rock Stadium.
After replacing Carlo Ancelotti in the Real Madrid dugout, Alonso will be hoping to begin his tenure by leading the club to silverware at the Club World Cup in the USA.
The 43-year-old is not the only new face in the Real Madrid set up, with Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huijsen set to make their debuts after arriving from Liverpool and Bournemouth respectively.
Real Madrid paid Liverpool £10m to sign Alexander-Arnold in time for the Club World Cup, so it seems a near-certainty that he will line up on the right side of the back four in Miami.
Huijsen, who was signed for £50m last month, is expected to partner Raul Asencio in central defence, while Fran Garcia should operate at left-back for Real Madrid's opening game.
If Alonso opts for a 4-3-3, he could select to start Federico Valverde and Jude Bellingham on either side of Aurelien Tchouameni in the middle of the park.
Rodrygo and Vinicius Junior are set to offer attacking support to forward Kylian Mbappe, who heads into the tournament in a confident mood after netting 43 goals in 56 appearances in his first season as a Real Madrid player.
In regards to absentees, defender Ferland Mendy and forward Endrick are unavailable for selection due to quad and hamstring injuries respectively.
Eduardo Camavinga remains sidelined with an adductor problem, while Dani Carvajal, Eder Militao, David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger could also miss the opener.
Real Madrid possible starting lineup:
Courtois; Alexander-Arnold, Asencio, Huijsen, Garcia; Valverde, Tchouameni, Bellingham; Rodrygo, Vinicius, Mbappe
