Reading complete the signing of free agent Sandro Wieser on a three-year deal.

Jaap Stam has strengthened his Reading quad with the signing of free agent Sandro Wieser on a three-year deal.

The 23-year-old defensive-midfield player becomes the Dutchman's ninth purchase since taking over at the Madejski Stadium.

Wieser, who has 33 international caps for Liechtenstein to his name, spent last season with Swiss top-tier side FC Thun and helped the club to a sixth-place finish.

A product of the Basel academy system, Wieser will now play a part in the Royals' push for a return to the Premier League under new manager Stam.

"Sandro is a left-footed defensive midfield player who has been playing his football out in Switzerland," Stam told Reading's official website. "He is a good passer of the ball, he has a good physique, good technique and I'm sure he will prove a good addition to the squad."
