Fleetwood Town goalkeeper Chris Maxwell agrees a three-year deal with Championship outfit Preston North End.

Preston North End have struck a deal to sign Chris Maxwell on a three-year contract.

The goalkeeper will arrive at Deepdale in early July on a free transfer following the expiration of his terms with Fleetwood Town.

"It's a fantastic club. It's the biggest club in Lancashire and I've heard nothing but positive things about it and it's a really exciting time for me," the 25-year-old told his new club's official website.

"I've had plenty of advice from people who have spent many, many years here and there's nothing but positive feedback.

"There's a fantastic fanbase, and a fantastic stadium which I have been lucky enough to play in a few times, and also a very experienced manager too, so it's really positive from my point of view and I can't wait to get started."

Maxwell, who made over 100 appearances for Fleetwood during the last two seasons, is on standby for Wales's Euro 2016 squad.
