A report claims that Nottingham Forest are closing in on the signing of Denmark forward Nicklas Bendtner on a free transfer.

Nottingham Forest are reportedly closing in on the signing of free agent Nicklas Bendtner.

The 28-year-old, who was linked with Queens Park Rangers in the summer, is currently available on a free transfer after his contract with German club Wolfsburg was terminated in April.

The 72-time Denmark international started his professional career with Arsenal, before joining Wolfsburg on a permanent deal in 2014 after loans with Sunderland and Juventus.

According to BBC Radio Nottingham, Forest, who currently sit seventh in the Championship table after five matches of the new season, are close to announcing Bendtner's arrival on a short-term contract.

The forward only scored three times in 31 Bundesliga appearances for Wolfsburg.
