Newcastle United goalkeeper Freddie Woodman has put pen to paper on a new four-year contract at St James' Park.

The 19-year-old, who helped the England Under-19s reach the semi-finals of the European Championships earlier this summer, has agreed a deal until 2020.

Woodman made his senior debut during a loan spell at Crawley Town last season, but after making 12 appearances, he was recalled by Newcastle following injury to number one Tim Krul.

"I'm delighted," Woodman told the club's official website. "I've been at this club for five years and I do consider this place home now.

"It's a great moment for me and my family to continue the journey with Newcastle and sign for four more years."

Woodman, who has also had a loan stint at Hartlepool United, joined the Magpies' youth setup from Crystal Palace in 2013.
