Koeman: 'I don't miss the Premier League'

Netherlands boss Ronald Koeman says that he had a "great time" managing in the Premier League, up until the 2017-18 campaign which saw him sacked by Everton.

Ronald Koeman has insisted that he is "really happy" to have taken on the job as Netherlands manager following the disappointing end to his time in the Premier League.

The 55-year-old enjoyed relative success with both Southampton and Everton during his first three seasons in the English top flight, only for a disastrous start to 2017-18 to tarnish his reputation.

Koeman was sacked in October with the Toffees 18th in the Premier League, having won just two of their opening nine league fixtures under the Dutchman.

Asked on the eve of the Netherlands' friendly with England whether he misses the Premier League, the former defensive midfielder told reporters: "No. I am really happy to be the national coach of Holland but I admire the Premier League and I had a great time.

"Everyone knows how that time finished at Everton but looking back it was great time, three-and-a-half seasons to be part of the Premier League.

"I like to have players who are proud when they are selected for the national team. As a manager, it is a really an honour to be the head coach of Holland."

Koeman guided Southampton to their best-ever Premier League finish of sixth and took Everton into the Europa League.
