Research suggests that Hirving Lozano's goal against Germany may have caused a minor earthquake in Mexico City.

Hirving Lozano's winning goal during Mexico's 1-0 victory over Germany is said to have caused a minor earthquake in the nation's capital.

According to research carried out by the Instituto de Investigaciones Geologicas and Atmosfericas, the PSV Eindhoven winger's strike sparked celebrations in Mexico City that could be felt on the Richter scale.

"The sismo detected in Mexico City originated artificially," the organisation wrote on Twitter.

"Possibly by massive jumps during the goal by Mexico in the World Cup."

Mexico's historic victory over the world champions has fired them to the top of Group F after one match played.
