Luis Enrique lauds David de Gea for his display in Spain's win over England and insists that his goalkeeper is among the best in the world.

Spain manager Luis Enrique has singled out David de Gea for praise following the Manchester United goalkeeper's solid display against England on Saturday evening.

De Gea produced one big save in particular to thwart clubmate Marcus Rashford in the first half, which would prove to be a big moment in the UEFA Nations League clash as La Roja held out for a 2-1 win at Wembley Stadium.

The 27-year-old was held accountable by many following Spain's early exit from the World Cup during the summer, but new boss Enrique insists that he was always confident the ex-Atletico Madrid stopper would return to his best form.

"I'm especially happy about David's performance," he told reporters at his post-match press conference. "He is one of the best goalkeepers in the world and has proven it in the Premier League week in, week out.

"I never had any doubts. Errors sometimes help you to improve and grow up."

De Gea has one clean sheet in four Premier League outings for Man United this season.
