England full-back Kieran Trippier insists that his side are capable of beating any team ahead of their UEFA Nations League clash with Spain at Wembley.

England full-back Kieran Trippier has insisted that his side "can beat anybody" ahead of Saturday's UEFA Nations League match against Spain.

Gareth Southgate's side will go into the Wembley showdown placed three spots above Spain in the latest FIFA rankings following their unexpected run to the semi-finals of the World Cup this summer.

Trippier established himself as a crucial member of the team in Russia, and he is now looking forward to testing himself against Luis Enrique's visitors.

"On our day I'd back ourselves to beat anybody but it wasn't meant to be, we got beaten in the semi-final. I watched the final, wishing, hoping that we were there and I was gutted that we weren't. But we're happy with the journey we went on and it's a good step to the future for us," Trippier told reporters.

"We want to play against the best. Spain will be a good test for us. Spain are certainly one of the best teams in the world. We're looking forward to it. We're all just ready for Saturday now.

"We work on a similar formation back at Spurs. As full-backs we like to get high and wide. It's the style of football that I enjoy playing. It's a good formation that suits the players that we've got here. It's exciting to watch."

England also face Switzerland in a friendly at Leicester City's King Power Stadium during this international break.
