Marcos Rojo confirms that he will seek to leave Manchester United in the January transfer window after a proposed summer move to Everton fell through.

Marcos Rojo has confirmed that he will seek to leave Manchester United in the January transfer window after a proposed summer move to Everton fell through.

The Argentine, who moved to Old Trafford in 2014, only managed six appearances in all competitions during an injury-hit 2018-19 campaign.

A move to Goodison Park appeared to be on the cards, with Rojo's agent meeting with United officials at Carrington, but no such deal materialised.

Reflecting on his failed move to Goodison Park, Rojo told The Mirror: "I had the possibility of Everton, but by decisions of the club or the manager it wasn't possible.

"Now I have to fight until December and if it doesn't work out, I will try to leave. I talked to Scaloni, he told me that he was happy because in the pre-season I had played many games, that I looked good and that's why he called me, but that I had to play."

Rojo featured for United over pre-season but is yet to receive any action under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season, with the defender missing out on the Norwegian's opening three matchday squads.

United's refusal to sanction a permanent transfer for Rojo is thought to have been due to a long-term injury to Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling's loan move to AS Roma, which precluded the club from letting another defender leave.
