Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard reveals his 'frustration' at pulling out of the latest England squad through illness.

Manchester United attacker Jesse Lingard has revealed his 'frustration' at being forced to pull out of the latest England squad due to illness.

The 26-year-old was included in Gareth Southgate's squad for the national team's two Euro 2020 qualifiers against Bulgaria and Kosovo on home soil.

Lingard was unable to train in the latter stages of last week due to an illness, however, and was pulled out of the squad before Saturday's clash with Bulgaria, which ended in a 4-0 England success.

The attacker also hailed his international teammates for picking up a "great result" at the weekend before backing them to overcome Kosovo at St Mary's on Tuesday night.

"Frustrating that illness has meant I can't be involved in these two games," Lingard tweeted. "Great result yesterday and sure the lads will get the job done again on Tuesday!"

Lingard is expected to be available for United's Premier League clash with Leicester City this weekend, although his spot in the first XI is far from secure after an underwhelming start to the season.
