Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho sees Phil Jones as part of his first-team plans for the new season, according to a report.

Centre-back Phil Jones has been told that he has a future under Jose Mourinho at Manchester United, according to a report.

The Red Devils beat a host of clubs to the signature of Jones in 2011 and the Englishman made a positive start to his Old Trafford career, making 41 appearances during his first campaign with the club.

Injuries have harmed the 24-year-old's development in recent seasons, however, and he only made 13 first-team appearances during the 2015-16 campaign.

It was thought that Jones would be deemed surplus to requirements this summer, but according to The Mirror, incoming boss Mourinho believes that he can mould the England international into the next John Terry.

Jones has made just 32 Premier League appearances in the last two seasons.
