Former Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal reportedly emerges as a potential candidate for the managerial position at AC Milan.

AC Milan have reportedly included Louis van Gaal on their shortlist as they consider a new manager at San Siro.

Towards the end of last season, head coach Sinisa Mihajlovic was removed from his position and replaced by Cristian Brocchi for the remaining six games but if speculation is to be believed, it is unlikely that the 40-year-old will remain in the dugout next season.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, former Manchester United boss Van Gaal has emerged as a possible option for the Italian giants who have spent the last three seasons outside of the top six in Serie A.

When Van Gaal was replaced by Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford, it was believed that he would end his time in management but it remains to be seen whether he would be tempted by one final role in a league in which he has never featured.

Frank de Boer and Andre Villas-Boas are also said to be in the running for the job.
