Nottingham Forest see their offer for Livingston's 16-year-old striker Matthew Knox rejected by the Scottish club.

Livingston have rejected an offer from Nottingham Forest for Matthew Knox.

The 16-year-old is believed to be on the radar of a number of English clubs, including Manchester United, where he supposedly spent a few days on trial last week.

Forest had hoped to secure the youngster's services from under the noses of other potential suitors, but their first proposal has been turned down.

"We don't want to sell him. We've knocked back Forest's offer but there might still be some more bids to come in for him," Livingston's interim chairman Robert Wilson told Edinburgh News.

"He's only 16 and I think you've got to remember that. We want him to have a future here."

The likes of Everton, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have also been credited with an interest in the striker.
