How Tottenham Hotspur could line up against Manchester United

Sports Mole looks at how Tottenham Hotspur could line up in Friday's Premier League clash with Manchester United.

The three-month coronavirus-enforced hiatus may just have come at a good time for Tottenham Hotspur, who mark their return to Premier League action on Friday with a home match against Manchester United.

Jose Mourinho's men were badly out of form ahead of the shutdown, losing five and drawing one of their last six matches.

As well as exiting the Champions League and FA Cup, at the hands of RB Leipzig and Norwich City respectively, Tottenham also lost ground in the race for a top-five finish in the Premier League.

However, Spurs have welcomed back influential attacking duo Harry Kane and Son Heung-min from injuries since returning to training last month, while Steven Bergwijn and Moussa Sissoko are also now back in contention.

Ahead of their first game back, Sports Mole looks at how Mourinho may set out his side at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Japhet Tanganga has started Tottenham's last three games but will sit this one out through injury, possibly forcing Mourinho to tweak formation from a back three to a back four.

Mourinho is a fan of Ben Davies at left-back and Serge Aurier has been used regularly on the opposite flank since Mourinho replaced Mauricio Pochettino in the first half of the season.

Further forward, the loss of Dele Alli to suspension for improper conduct is a blow for the hosts, but they do at least have Kane, Bergwijn and Son back in contention.

All three are expected to start against United, although Lucas Moura is also pushing for inclusion in the forward line.

There are a number of different options to choose from in central midfield, with Harry Winks and Gedson Fernandes likely to be the two to miss out on a starting spot.
