The former winger made a record 963 appearances for the Red Devils in a 23-year playing career.

Ryan Giggs is set to return to Manchester United as Wales train at the club's Carrington base ahead of their friendly with Trinidad & Tobago in Wrexham later this month.

Wales manager Giggs played 963 games for United between 1991 and 2014 and is the club's record appearance holder.

Giggs became British football's most decorated player during his time at United, winning 13 Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups and two Champions League crowns among other trophies.

The 45-year-old also had four games in charge as caretaker manager following David Moyes' departure in 2014, and spent two years as Louis Van Gaal's assistant before leaving Old Trafford in 2016.

Giggs has called on his United contacts to allow the Wales squad to train at Carrington before the Trinidad & Tobago friendly at the Racecourse Ground on March 20.

The game is a warm-up for Wales' opening Euro 2020 qualifier against Slovakia in Cardiff four days later.

Long-time United target Gareth Bale is expected to be among the players going through their paces at the Carrington Training Centre.

Bale suffered an ankle injury during the closing moments of Real Madrid's Champions League defeat to Ajax on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old was hobbling badly towards the end of the game and is set to miss Sunday's LaLiga match at Real Valladolid.

But the Wales hierarchy are hopeful that Bale will be fit for the Slovakia game on March 24.

Giggs is set to name his squad for the Trinidad & Tobago and Slovakia games in north Wales on Tuesday.
