How Arsenal could line up against Manchester United

Sports Mole looks at how Arsenal could line up for Sunday's crunch match with top-four rivals Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium.

The top-four race will take a fresh twist this weekend when fifth-placed Arsenal host fourth-placed Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Just one point separates the two teams either side of the all-important dotted line, but they are heading into the latest chapter of this great Premier League rivalry off the back of contrasting European nights.

United recorded one of their greatest ever Champions League results to progress against all the odds in Paris on Wednesday night, whereas just a day later Arsenal slumped to a 3-1 defeat in the same country at the hands of Rennes.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Unai Emery could set his side up as they look to bounce back from that Europa League disappointment.

Emery's team selection for the North London derby raised a lot of eyebrows, with the likes of Lucas Torreira, Mesut Ozil and top-scorer Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang all absent, but he was vindicated with a good performance which would have ended with all three points had Aubameyang not missed a late penalty.

It could be a similar XI which lines up for this big game, then, which would again mean Aubameyang must make do with a place on the bench as Alexandre Lacazette leads the line.

Torreira is unavailable this time after his appeal against the red card he picked up against Spurs was rejected, leaving him facing a three-match ban.

Aaron Ramsey is expected to be among those recalled to the starting lineup after Emery made four changes for the Europa League defeat to Rennes, with Lacazette, Matteo Guendouzi and Bernd Leno also likely to come back in.

Nacho Monreal's own goal in that match could open the door for Sead Kolasinac to come back into the side too, while Sokratis Papastathopoulos is available for domestic action despite his European suspension.
