New Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick says that he saw 'the potential of the team' during Thursday's 3-2 win over Arsenal.

New Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick has said that he saw 'the potential of the team' during Thursday's Premier League clash with Arsenal at Old Trafford.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice in a 3-2 success for the Red Devils, who had fallen behind in the first half when Emile Smith Rowe fired into an empty net after David de Gea had gone down injured.

Rangnick watched from the stands at Old Trafford, and the German was pleased with the response from the 20-time English champions after conceding the opener in unfortunate circumstances.

"All of you saw the game. The first half was shaky with this unlucky goal. Even myself, I said where is David? After that goal, it was a major blow for the team, they were lacking confidence. Which is normal after the recent weeks," Rangnick told reporters.

"It was important to get the equaliser before half time. You could see the potential that was in the team. To transfer the game away from our own box into an area where we have our assets."

Man United will be looking to make it back-to-back wins in the Premier League when they welcome Crystal Palace to Old Trafford on Saturday.
