Manchester United interim boss Ralf Rangnick has demanded an improvement to his side's play, despite earning an important victory on Saturday.

Since taking temporary charge of the Red Devils, the German has won seven, drawn three and lost just one of his 11 matches at the helm across all competitions.

However, despite the results, performances have arguably been below the expected standards, as United have required late goals to pick up points in the Premier League and the Champions League too.

Speaking after United beat West Ham United 1-0 at Old Trafford on Saturday, when asked whether he was pleased with his side's performance, Rangnick told MUTV: "Well defensively I would say yes, because from normal play we didn't allow them too many chances.

"And as I said, it was not easy against them, they are a very physical team.

"But I am still not quite happy with the way that we play in possession of the ball, so this will have to be the next steps in the next couple of weeks that we also find better solutions in possession of the ball."

After registering just two shots on target all match, Marcus Rashford then scored a 93rd-minute winner to give United all three points against the Hammers, which lifted them above their opponents into fourth in the table.
