Manchester United are hit with a charge from the Football Association for their conduct ahead of Lewis Dunk's dismissal on Tuesday night.

Manchester United have been hit with a charge from the Football Association for their conduct ahead of Lewis Dunk's dismissal during Tuesday's Premier League clash with Brighton & Hove Albion.

Dunk was initially shown a yellow card for his challenge on Anthony Elanga, who was set to go one-on-one with Seagulls goalkeeper Robert Sanchez inside the penalty box.

However, referee Peter Bankes ultimately sent the Brighton centre-back off after reviewing the footage at the side of the pitch.

Harry Maguire, Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes were among those to show their fury at the initial yellow card, and the Red Devils have now been hit with a charge from the FA.

"Manchester United FC has been charged with a breach of FA Rule E20.1 following its Premier League game against Brighton & Hove Albion FC on Tuesday [15/2/22]," read a statement from the FA.

"It is alleged that Manchester United FC failed to ensure its players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 53rd minute, and the club has until Monday [21/2/22] to provide a response."

The 20-time English champions, who have returned to fourth position in the Premier League table, are next in action away to Leeds United on Sunday afternoon.
