David Moyes's first competitive game in charge couldn't come at a bigger venue as Manchester United faced Wigan Athletic in the Community Shield at Wembley.
There was little drama for Moyes as United breezed past the Latics thanks to Robin van Persie's brace.

1.39pmMoyes tells ITV Sport that it's been a busy pre-season, also admitting that form has been "a bit mixed". Coyle says that there's "always an opportunity when it's 11 v 11".

1.42pmLet's take a closer look at the two teams. Moyes hands Wilfried Zaha a debut on the right of midfield and it's surprising not to see Shinji Kagawa in the middle. There's also a start for Ryan Giggs, still going strong at 39!

0 minKICKOFF! We're underway at Wembley, with half of the pitch in shadow. Maloney and McArthur get the ball rolling.
2 minA trickle of excitement filters through the United fans as Zaha tricks his way past one man before overdoing it and losing possession. It's a big day for the youngster, who has been involved in every single one of United's pre-season games.
4 minThe dugouts are looking right into the sun and it's not that easy for Moyes and co. to see the action as they shield their eyes from the rays.
4 minJones commits the first foul of the game by bundling into McCarthy from behind when challenging for a high ball.
6 minGOAL! United 1-0 Wigan (Van Persie)
6 minDidn't take long, did it? It's classy stuff from United as Giggs backheels into Van Persie who pings it out to Evra charging up the left side. The Frenchman takes a touch before curling over for Van Persie whose header is simply brilliant. He's at least 12 yards out but still manages to power it back across Carson into the bottom corner.
10 minThe more and more you watch that header, the better it gets. Van Persie was a long way out for a header but timed it perfectly to generate enough power to beat Carson. He may be the most expensive player for Fantasy Football players, but I think a lot of them might take the hit to have the Dutchman in their team!
13 minUnited have slowed the pace right down in the last couple of minutes. They've got their goal will expect more int he remaining 80 minutes or so.
15 minExcellent low cross from Zaha that's defended even better by Barnett under his own crossbar, managing to boot it over and out for a corner.
16 minUNITED SUB: Not a good sight for United fans as Rafael hobbles off after a challenge from McClean. Chris Smalling is the Brazilian's replacement and he'll either go straight to right-back or swap with Jones.
17 minIt's Jones who has gone and filled in for Rafael on the right of defence. He'll be disappointed with that as he's said before that he wants to get more minutes at centre-back in a red shirt.
19 minWigan should be able to create chances today with that frontline of Maloney, Holt and McClean. At the moment they're just looking a little panicky whenever they have a bit of space in the final third.
22 minMcClean picks out his onrushing left-back Crainey moving into the box. His touch is a little heavy though and Smalling does well to block the cross and prevent a corner before McClean hacks down Zaha to break up the play.

30 minZaha has certainly seen a lot of the ball in the opening half hour. At the moment he's just little too eager to showcase himself and just neds to simplify everything a little.
32 minBest moment of the match for Wigan. McClean whips over a fabulous cross from the left touchline that's begging to be put in. McArthur nudges Vidic out of the way though and referee Clattenburg blows up.
35 minCHANCE! Excellent stuff from Wigan. They patiently work the ball up the field before Crainey clips over for McClean in behind Jones. Smalling misjudges the bounce and McClean is the wrong side but doesn't make the most of it by volleying across the six-yard box with no blue-and-white shirt there to tap in.
38 minSAVE! Cleverley fizzes it in to Welbeck who takes a smart touch before spinning and curling for the far corner. It takes a slight deflection but Carson is still there to push it out for a corner. Van Persie bends it over and Welbeck is there again but heads over.
40 minCome on lads, it's only the Community Shield! Holt and Vidic exchange words after a tussle in the box with Wigan lining up a free kick. McClean is eventually allowed to take it but can't beat the first United defender.
43 minAnother free kick for Wigan in a similar position. Looks like Watson is going to take this one...
44 minCHANCE! Watson goes deep with the delivery and there's three Wigan men unmarked at the back stick. Boyce is the one who gets up to head it back across goal but Barnett on the other side of the area isn't tall enough to divert it goalwards.
45+1 minJust the one added minute at the end of the first half.

2.46pmThe two sides are separated by Robin van Persie's sixth-minute header. The Premier League champions looked completely untroubled for much of the half but Wigan improved in the final 10 minutes to give Coyle something to build on in the second half.

50 minUnited charge down the other end and have a chance to double their lead when Cleverley is teed up for a shot from the edge of the area. He connects horribly though and the ball bobbles wide at a harmless pace.
53 minGood pressure from McClean down the Wigan left forces Zaha into a rushed clearance that goes out of play. The new Latic has certainly seen more of the ball than Maloney on the other wing.
55 minMore running from the Irishman down the left side sees Wigan earn their first corner that's headed away on the dive by Van Persie.
56 minMoyes had to make the first substitution when Rafael picked up an injury in the first half, but who will be first to blink in making a tactical change. Surely Coyle must be thinking about McManaman, who played so well in the FA Cup final here three months ago.

59 minRVP at the double! Not quite so tasty this one as the Dutchman works the ball onto his left foot and shoots low. Carson would make an easy save if Perch hadn't stuck out a leg to divert it past the former England keeper into the back of the net.
60 minSUBS: Both managers make changes as Valencia takes the place of a hobbling Zaha for United while Coyle makes a trio of changes bringing on McManaman, McCann and Fortune for Holt, McArthur and McClean.
65 minSo Moyes has one change to make. Will he leave Van Persie on to maybe get his hat-trick or bring the Dutchman off to ensure injury is avoided ahead of the new season?
67 minUNITED SUB: It's veteran Giggs who leaves the field for Anderson. It's a shame that we won't see Januzaj today.
69 minJUST WIDE! Almost three for United. Evra is lucky to be played through after the pass his way is deflected behind the defence. He lays it into Van Persie who in turn finds Welbeck. The striker can't quite get off a shot so plays back to Cleverley who prods it on to Valencia. The Ecuadorian eventually gets a shot away that's deflected wide of the far post.
71 minWIGAN SUBS: Oh, there isn't a three-sub limit today it seems. Jordi Gomez and Roger Espinoza have just entered for Shaun Maloney and Ben Watson.
73 minEspinoza tries to make an immediate impact with a volley from the right side of the box. He cuts across it too much though and that's not troubling De Gea, who is still yet to face a shot.
74 minAs Evra stays down with what seems like a groin strain the attendance is announced as 80,235. The majority will be United fans.
