James McAtee could leave Manchester City this summer, with the Premier League champions open to selling the midfielder if a suitable offer is received.
Following a challenging 2024-25 campaign, City are aiming to streamline their squad and are reportedly willing to part ways with McAtee. The 22-year-old has struggled for regular minutes in high-profile matches and is not seen as a key part of Pep Guardiola’s long-term plans.
With a market valuation of around €20m (£17.3m), the England youth international could generate a significant transfer fee, helping City secure one of their biggest sales of the 2025 window.
Frankfurt make approach for McAtee
McAtee, whose contract at the Etihad Stadium runs until June 2026, is attracting interest from clubs in both Germany and England.
Sky Sports reports that Eintracht Frankfurt are among the frontrunners, with the player having recently visited the German club’s facilities. Talks have taken place between McAtee and Frankfurt regarding a possible move to Dino Toppmoller’s side, although no agreement has yet been reached.
City have not received any formal bids for the midfielder at this stage, but Borussia Dortmund are also monitoring the situation. McAtee made just three starts in the Premier League last season and did not feature in any Champions League starting lineups under Guardiola.
A move within England also remains on the cards, with Nottingham Forest named as one of the clubs interested in securing his services.
