The ties between Chelsea and Strasbourg continue to deepen — and could eventually extend to the French club’s head coach, Liam Rosenior.
Both clubs operate under the ownership of the BlueCo consortium, and their cooperation intensified last season when several players were sent on loan from Stamford Bridge to the Ligue 1 side. That included the likes of Andrey Santos and Djordje Petrovic, with further loans already planned for the 2025-26 campaign. Three players are set to join Strasbourg on temporary deals (Mike Penders, Aaron Anselmino and Kendry Paez), while Mathis Amougou has made a permanent switch from Chelsea.
According to The Sun, Chelsea are keeping a close eye on Rosenior as a potential managerial candidate for the future. The 41-year-old is reportedly on the club's radar as a possible successor to Enzo Maresca, though such a move would not be imminent.
Long-term planning at Stamford Bridge
Maresca only joined Chelsea in 2024 and is under contract until June 2029. Despite the club’s well-documented tendency to make swift managerial changes — with five coaches having taken charge since 2021 — the former Leicester City boss is thought to be secure in his position until at least the end of the 2025-26 season, barring any major setbacks.
As for Rosenior, he is preparing for his second season at Strasbourg after an impressive debut campaign. The former Hull City manager extended his contract with the Ligue 1 outfit until June 2028, turning down recent interest from Premier League sides in the process.
However, the allure of a future move to Chelsea — particularly from 2026 onwards — may prove difficult to resist if the opportunity arises.
