Manchester City consider re-signing Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa, according to a report.

Manchester City are reportedly considering re-signing Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa.

The 22-year-old was contracted to City between 2017 and 2019 but did not make a single first-team appearance for the club, spending time on loan with Girona before completing a permanent move to Villa.

The Brazil international has been in impressive form for Dean Smith's side this season, contributing two assists in 16 appearances in all competitions, and he played the full 90 minutes in his current team's 2-0 loss to the Citizens at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night.

According to The Athletic, City are currently considering their options when it comes to the midfielder as Pep Guardiola's side have a buy-back option, which they could activate this summer.

Luiz has now made 51 appearances in the Premier League, contributing three goals and three assists, while he has missed just one league fixture for Villa during the 2020-21 campaign.

The South American's existing deal at Villa Park is due to run until June 2023.
