Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Manchester City could line up for Wednesday's Premier League clash with Brentford.

Manchester City will once again be forced to cope without Gabriel Jesus for Wednesday's Premier League encounter with Brentford.

The Brazil international returned from World Cup Qualifying duty with some niggles and was not involved in the FA Cup thrashing of Fulham at the weekend alongside Cole Palmer.

Pep Guardiola has no fresh concerns to worry about, though, with Ederson now preparing to demote Zack Steffen down to the bench at the Etihad Stadium.

Aymeric Laporte and Ruben Dias should also return to the heart of defence in place of Nathan Ake and John Stones, as Joao Cancelo and Kyle Walker reprise their roles.

A midfield overhaul could see Rodri and Bernardo Silva both return to the first XI as Fernandinho and Ilkay Gundogan make way, with Kevin De Bruyne retaining his spot.

Riyad Mahrez returned with a brace in the cup and will expect to hold his place on the right wing if Jesus is not back in time, while Raheem Sterling could place Jack Grealish's spot in the final third under threat.

Man City possible starting lineup: Ederson; Walker, Dias, Laporte, Cancelo; Silva, Rodri, De Bruyne; Mahrez, Foden, Sterling
