Omar Marmoush makes history as his phenomenal strike for Man City against Bournemouth earlier this month has been voted the 2024-25 Premier League Goal of the Season.

Omar Marmoush's phenomenal strike against Bournemouth earlier this month has been voted the Premier League's Goal of the Season for 2024-25.

The Manchester City forward's 30-yard rocket opened the scoring in the 14th minute to set Pep Guardiola's side on the road to a 3-1 victory in their final home match of the campaign at the Etihad Stadium.

After receiving the ball from Mateo Kovacic just inside Bournemouth's half, Marmoush was given time and space to carry the ball forward before unleashing a remarkable dipping shot that flew past Kepa Arrizabalaga, in off the post and into the top-left corner.

The 26-year-old's goal received the most combined votes by the public and a panel of football experts, topping a shortlist that also included each of the season's Goal of the Month winners.

Marmoush fended off competition from Brighton & Hove Albion duo Carlos Baleba and Kaoru Mitoma, Chelsea pair Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson, Aston Villa's Jhon Duran, Bournemouth's David Brooks, Ipswich Town's Jens Cajuste and Newcastle United's Alexander Isak to win this season's individual prize.

Man City's new No.7 has become the first player in the club's history to win the Premier League Goal of the Season award and is only the second-ever Egyptian to claim the accolade after Liverpool's Mohamed Salah's in 2021-22.

Marmoush joined Man City from Eintracht Frankfurt for a reported £59m in the January transfer window after making a prolific start to the season in the Bundesliga, contributing to 25 goals (15 goals, 10 assists) in just 17 appearances.

The 26-year-old announced himself to the Etihad faithful when he scored a superb 14-minute hat-trick in the opening 33 minutes of Man City's 4-0 win over Newcastle United in February.

Marmoush also scored in Premier League games against Brighton, Leicester City and Crystal Palace, but he saved the best for last against Bournemouth.

In fact, all seven of Marmoush's Premier League goals for Man City have been scored at the Etihad, the most goals any player has scored with 100% of them coming at home in the 2024-25 season - his only other goal for the club came away against Bournemouth in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Marmoush's most recent strike against the Cherries in the top flight helped City claim all three points on their way to securing third place in the table and Champions League qualification for next season.

The forward is now looking forward to helping Guardiola's side challenge for FIFA Club World Cup glory at this summer's newly-expanded 32-team tournament held in the United States, with City beginning their group-stage campaign against Wydad AC on June 18.
