Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is 'hopeful' that midfielder Jack Grealish will be available for next Tuesday's Champions League last-16 tie away against Sporting Lisbon.

The 26-year-old was ruled out of Saturday evening's Premier League trip to Norwich City with a shin injury.

Grealish picked up a similar injury with boyhood club Aston Villa last season, which forced him to miss 12 matches across all competitions.

One report from journalist Mike McGrath, of the Daily Telegraph, claims that the England international could now face up to a month on the sidelines; however, Guardiola is hopeful the midfielder can return much sooner.

Speaking in his pre-match interview at Carrow Road, the Spaniard said: "[Grealish is] injured. A little bit what he had last season at Villa, less of course.

"Training after Brentford he wasn't good, we make a test, he wasn't ready today. Hopefully ready for Tuesday."

Since moving to the Etihad Stadium for a British transfer record of £100m last summer, Grealish has scored three goals and provided three assists in 25 appearances across all competitions.

Along with Grealish, Gabriel Jesus and Cole Palmer will be assessed to see if they can feature in Portugal next week, having missed the last few matches with minor problems.
