Preview: Maidenhead United vs. Wealdstone - prediction, team news, lineups

Sports Mole previews Sunday's National League clash between Maidenhead United and Wealdstone, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.

Maidenhead United will be aiming to collect consecutive victories when they welcome Wealdstone to York Road on Sunday.

The hosts enter the fixture in 19th place, while their opponents sit a place higher with three more points to their name, but Wealdstone will be low on confidence after losing their last four matches in all competitions.

Maidenhead will enter Sunday's contest in high spirits after they ended a six-game winless run in midweek thanks to a 1-0 home victory over Bromley.

In that contest, Nathan Blissett found the net in the 68th minute to guide his side to a narrow victory, which took Maidenhead three points clear of the relegation zone.

Alan Devonshire will be glad that his side have another home fixture to look forward to on Sunday, especially considering the fact that four of Maidenhead's five league wins this season have occurred at York Road.

Three of those victories have come in Maidenhead's last five home league games, which suggests that the Magpies are beginning to make full use of home advantage.

However, there is still room for improvement, with the Magpies currently holding the worst defensive home league record after shipping 22 goals at York Road this term.

As for Wealdstone, they will be hoping that the new year leads to a change in form, with the Stones aiming to end a run of four consecutive defeats on Sunday.

In their last outing, Wealdstone were eliminated from the FA Trophy as Newham Market edged out their opponents courtesy of a 2-1 scoreline.

Stuart Maynard's side will aim to put cup disappointment behind them as they return to league action for the first time since December 11.

Their last National League fixture was decided by a penalty, as Matthew Warburton dispatched his spot kick to give Halifax the three points against Wealdstone.

As they turn their attentions to an away trip to begin the new year, optimism may be at a premium within the away dressing room, with Wealdstone struggling on their travels this term after winning just two away league games.

Team News

Daniel Gyollai made his debut for Maidenhead in midweek, and the on-loan goalkeeper will start once again on Sunday.

Meanwhile, Remy Clerima is expected to come back into the starting lineup to slot in at right-back.

Blissett scored his first league goal of the season in midweek, and he will be looking for more when he leads the line against Wealdstone.

As for the visitors, they may have to bring 18-year-old goalkeeper Alfie Marigliani into the starting lineup after Will Dennis was recalled from his loan by Bournemouth.

Wealdstone are still without the services of Andrew Eleftheriou, who will miss the game due to injury.

Joshua Umerah will lead the line for the hosts, and he will be looking to add to the eight league goals that he has scored this term.

Maidenhead United possible starting lineup:
Gyollai; Clerima, Massey, De Havilland, Beckwith; Kelly, Donnellan, Adams, Upward, Sparkes; Blissett

Wealdstone possible starting lineup:
Marigliani; McAvoy, Okimo, Cook, Sweeney; Fasanmade, Charles, Dyer, Cooper, Mascoll; Umerah
