Liverpool attacker Luis Diaz has revealed that his camp are in discussions with other clubs, but he reaffirmed his commitment to the Reds at the same time.
The Colombia international is about to enter the final two years of his Anfield agreement, and Barcelona have long been linked with an approach for the former Porto man.
Blaugrana sporting director Deco recently confirmed his admiration for both Diaz and Manchester United's Marcus Rashford, although he refused to discuss the speculation while the duo are under contract with their current clubs.
However, as quoted by Fabrizio Romano, Diaz has not fully closed the door on a departure from Anfield, saying: "I’m very happy at Liverpool. They’ve treated me well since the first day.
"We’re talking with other clubs. It’s the transfer window, it’s normal. If Liverpool renews my contract, or if I have to stay the 2 years I have left, I’ll be happy. It’s up to them."
Diaz refuses to fully close door on Liverpool departure
Discussions are believed to have taken place between Diaz's entourage and Liverpool's sporting team, but the two parties are yet to find common ground in negotiations.
As a result, the Reds could find themselves in a position where they will have to consider selling the South American this summer before his stock falls next year, especially as he performed relatively well in Arne Slot's debut campaign.
The 28-year-old managed 25 direct goal contributions in 50 matches across all competitions - 17 of his own and eight assists - including 13 efforts and seven helpers in Premier League action.
Diaz's 25 involvements in 2024-25 took his total for the English champions to 41 strikes and 23 assists from 148 games in all competitions since joining from Porto, who received £42.5m for his sale.
How Florian Wirtz could force Diaz out of Liverpool
Diaz's versatility was a huge benefit both to him and Slot in the 2024-25 campaign, as the Colombian functioned perfectly well both out wide and in the number nine role.
However, it is now only a matter of time before the Reds complete a deal for Bayer Leverkusen's Florian Wirtz, who is not joining for a club-record fee to sit on the bench.
The Germany international would slot straight into the number 10 slot, but as Dominik Szoboszlai has made that position his own, Wirtz could instead be fielded on the left-hand side.
If Liverpool also sign a new out-and-out number nine, Diaz could all of a sudden find himself on the periphery of the team, thus giving him another incentive to leave.
The South American is just one of a few Reds forwards who could head for the exit door, as Federico Chiesa, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota and Harvey Elliott may be tempted by moves elsewhere also.
