Hertha Berlin sporting director Michael Preetz confirms that Marko Grujic will "100%" be returning to Liverpool when his loan deal expires at the end of June.

Hertha Berlin sporting director Michael Preetz has confirmed that Liverpool loanee Marko Grujic will return to his parent club at the end of this month.

The 24-year-old has spent the past two seasons on loan in the German capital and has established himself as a regular member of the Hertha side, making 27 appearances across all competitions this term.

However, his current loan terms expire on June 30, shortly after the Bundesliga season is due to end, and Preetz has told Liverpool that they will be getting a much-improved player back.

"It is 100% certain that the loan agreement between us and Liverpool and the contract with Marko Grujic will end on June 30," he is quoted as saying by the Evening Standard.

"It has been agreed by both clubs that he will return to Liverpool. The conclusion of this loan agreement over the past two years is very positive and it has had positive effects on everyone who has been involved.

"Liverpool will get back a player who is definitely more experienced than he has been before, because he earned very important game practice. And we also had profit out of this past two years with Marko.

"Marko is a player who is present in both penalty boxes. Just in his first year he played extraordinary. Now after the restart he is getting back into his good shape. He is just a very good player. So for me this loan agreement definitely made sense."

Grujic has made just 14 senior appearances for Liverpool since joining the club from Red Star Belgrade in 2016.
